Dream

So I was in this hospital with a few friends,

Probably Dilley Ridge,

Volunteering, helping out with some patients.

When the hospital closed down for the night,

We went outside.

Out there, slowly walking towards the building,

Was a giant of a man,

Dragging a heavy axe.

He had a burlap sack on his head

With three vertical eyes painted on it,

A sadistic, joker-like smile too.

He was coming again to kill people in the hospital,

Just as he had last night.

My five friends and I were there,

We barely survived,

Though how I am not sure.

We figured, go to our car and not stare at him

(Staring is what prompted his attack the night before).

We tried our hardest,

But our hardest wasn't good enough.

I looked for just a second.

He stopped and turned towards me.

As he raised his axe,

I shouted run.

We got to our car and all piled in.

We couldn't see him,

He had disappeared.

His axe swung down from above,

Cleaving the engine in half.

We scrambled out and resumed our run.

I saw a van just up ahead,

It belonged to a family of five.

Two of the little ones were in their seats,

The newest member was about to be put in.

The keys were in the ignition.

I hopped in and put the pedal to the metal.

I didn't care about that family,

I didn't even care about my friends anymore,

I only wanted to preserve my own life.

The axe swings from nowhere again,

Its blade chopping through the glass.

But before it chops through me,

I wake up.

Another nightmare is now over,

And I feel a little of my sanity going with it.
